Master Hsing Yun founded Fo Guang Shan in 1967.
Since then, the bamboo mountain range has been transformed into the largest Buddhist monastery in Taiwan. Reverend Master Hsing Yun has inspired more than 1,000 monks and a large enthusiastic group of practitioners who help him give trust, joy, hope and ease to others. Today, Fo Guang Shan has more than 200 affiliated temples around the world that propagate the purpose of spreading humanistic Buddhism and creating a Pure Land on Earth.
The organization in the temple is Fo Guang Shan. The Fo Guang Shan organization consists mainly of 2 groups:
International Buddhist Progress Society (I.B.P.S.) and the Buddha’s Light International Association (B.L.I.A.)
